The district of
Sishane—located within walking distance of the Galata Greek School—has for
decades been the epicentre of a network of designers, producers and retailers centred
on lighting. Face to face interactions and unmediated design processes utilise
the dense neighbourhood as their communication system: the clustering of
activities facilitates the maintenance of old relationships allows for new
creative practices to emerge.
